Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about navigating our advanced economic dashboard, understanding exchange rates, and utilizing historical inflation data.

General Usage & Data Sources

Where does Calculo Inflacion get its inflation data (IPC)?

Accuracy is our top priority. Our calculator relies on official, verified data sources to ensure your calculations reflect reality:

  • Historical & Current Data: We use the official Consumer Price Index (IPC) published monthly by INDEC (Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Censos).
  • Future Projections: When calculating future values, we integrate data from the REM (Relevamiento de Expectativas de Mercado), which is compiled and published by the BCRA (Central Bank of the Argentine Republic).
How often are the exchange rates and economic indicators updated?

Our dashboard features live or near-live integrations for all major financial tickers shown in the header. Exchange rates for Dólar Oficial, Blue, Bolsa (MEP), CCL, Tarjeta, and Cripto are updated continuously during market hours. The Riesgo País (Country Risk) index is also updated daily based on the JP Morgan EMBI+ index.

What are the "Momentos para comparar" (Historical Comparisons)?

This unique feature allows you to instantly contextualize current inflation by comparing it to pivotal moments in recent economic history. With one click, you can set the calculator's timeframes to align with events like the end of the Macri government, the post-PASO devaluations, the start of the COVID-19 quarantine, or the beginning of the Milei administration. It helps visualize how purchasing power shifted during specific political or global events.

Currency Types & Advanced Features

What is the difference between Dólar Oficial, Blue, Bolsa, CCL, and Tarjeta?

Because of Argentina's complex currency controls, there are multiple exchange rates. Our tool tracks them all so you can calculate your true purchasing power:

  • Oficial: The rate regulated by the Central Bank, mostly used for major imports/exports.
  • Blue: The informal, parallel market rate driven by street-level supply and demand.
  • Bolsa (MEP): A legal exchange rate obtained by buying Argentine bonds in Pesos and selling them in Dollars within the local market.
  • Contado con Liquidación (CCL): Similar to MEP, but the resulting Dollars are deposited into a foreign bank account.
  • Tarjeta: The official rate plus mandatory government taxes, applied to purchases made in foreign currency with a credit or debit card.
  • Cripto: The implicit exchange rate derived from trading stablecoins (like USDT or USDC) on crypto exchanges.
How do I use the "Sueldo" (Salary) adjustment tab?

The Sueldo tab is designed to help you negotiate wages or understand your real income loss/gain. Simply enter your salary amount and the date it was last updated. The calculator will apply the INDEC accumulated inflation between that date and today, showing you the exact monetary figure you need to be earning right now just to maintain the exact same purchasing power you had back then.

How does the "Plazo Fijo" (Fixed Term) calculator work?

The Plazo Fijo tab lets you compare the yield of a standard bank fixed-term deposit against the inflation rate for the same period. It calculates the real interest rate (Tasa Real). If inflation is higher than the interest paid by the bank, the tool will show you how much actual purchasing power your investment lost, despite the nominal gain in Pesos.

What is the "Últimas noticias económicas" section?

To provide a complete dashboard experience, we integrated a live news feed ("Últimas noticias económicas") at the bottom of the tool. This feed automatically aggregates the latest breaking financial and economic headlines from top journalistic sources, ensuring you have the contextual news you need while running your calculations. You can click the "Actualizar" button to refresh the feed instantly.

Privacy & Technical Support

Does the calculator save my salary or financial data?

Absolutely not. Calculo Inflacion processes your inputted amounts (like salaries, investment amounts, or savings) entirely on the client-side (within your own browser) or immediately on-the-fly without database storage. We do not track, store, or sell the personal financial figures you enter into the tool. For more details, review our Privacy Policy.

How do I share a specific calculation with someone else?

Once you run a calculation, look for the "Copiar enlace" (Copy link) and "Copiar resultado" (Copy result) buttons on the results panel. "Copiar enlace" generates a unique URL that preserves your exact dates and amounts, allowing you to send it to a colleague or friend so they see the exact same graph and numbers.
